The Northern Territory Government has contracted local consultant Hames Sharley to develop the Marrara Sports Precinct Masterplan. The Masterplan will provide a roadmap for improving sporting infrastructure, while establishing the Marrara Sports Precinct (the Precinct) as an iconic sporting complex that delivers health, social and economic benefits for Territorians.
The masterplan will include:
- considerations for the entire Precinct addressing drainage, utilities, wayfinding, public amenities, shade, landscaping, outdoor active recreation, pedestrian and vehicular access
- incorporation of individual sporting venues and active recreation facilities into the broader Precinct, with considerations to existing facility masterplans
- an assessment of existing infrastructure and building/asset conditions to inform planning and costing decisions
- recommendations for possible land governance models for assets and the Precinct
- planning requirements for additional facilities to manage overlapping sporting activities and events.
Project timeline:
- December 2024 to January 2025 – Stakeholder and Community Consultation Round 1
- March 2025 – Launch of Draft Master Plan
- March to April 2025 – Stakeholder and Community Consultation Round 2 – Review of Draft Master Plan
- April 2025 – Launch of Final Master Plan
