If you are new to gymnastics or continuing on from tumblers or girls-only, participants can experience all areas of gymnastics in class with girls aged 6 to 15. Skills developing coordination, balance, agility, and strength are explored across the Women's apparatus, as well as the trampoline, our Ninja and Strength areas. We promote fun and enjoyment through preparation and progression, in a safe environment, with our highly trained coaches!
Our Girls-Gym Program has 8 Steps that integrate and transfer into Gymnastics Australia's WAG Levels Program (Women's Artistic Gymnastics).
Girls-Gym Green = Steps 1 - 3:
Entry into our Women's Gymnastics pathways at DGC. With a focus on foundations and the development of training ability. Classes are offered throughout the week, with gymnasts ideally attending two classes a week, but there is the option of attending a single class if preferred. Training on all WAG apparatus, trampoline and Ninja areas, with a high focus on: Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam and Floor!
Girls-Gym Yellow = Steps 4 - 8:
2 yellow classes and a strength class (for girls 8+) are to be attended each week to cover the entire program. Attending strength sessions is required to ensure that participants have the strength and conditioning required to perform the skills in the higher steps safely. Gymnasts can remain in the Steps program, or be used as a pathway into our WAG Squads, working towards competition events.
Our Steps Program has been developed using Gymnastic Australia's WAG ALP Levels 1-5 routines.
Does your girl want to compete for DGC as a WAG Levels Gymnast?
Girls in the Yellow Program can train their Step Skills & also represent DGC at WAG ALP local/state/inter-state events! (See Below)
If your child is in the Girls-Gym Program and wishes to be considered for DGC's WAG Squad, to compete at local club and state events, please let us know! With the curriculum for the Steps and the ALP programs being the same, we have a team of athletes who train both steps and WAG ALP routines, with their step program providing continuous development opportunities to train skills as the girls become prepared for them, and their WAG Squad sessions used to refine their current levels skills, connections and routines - please note that squad gymnasts have to adhere to our squad and attendance policies.
